My Beef
I sincerely argue that this school is much too hard on their diligent students. First of all, it does not give enough break time to relieve tension. Each period is 1 hour 15 minutes long straight and sometimes, my mind feels like it’s going to burst. Too much education at one time is too overwhelming for us students. The teacher should take in to consideration that the students are not as knowledgeable as they are, and are not capable of the same things. Therefore, it is up to them to give us an education that is not too hard at one time so we actually can take it in. I suggest more fun activities that engage the student so he or she can have more fun therefore be more relaxed. When students are more relaxed, it’s easier to learn things. It takes longer to sink things in when lectures are too long. With no break time, our minds tend to lose focus and fall apart. Then, we end up not learning half of the things that were lectured upon. In addition, because our school is a system of stairs and long hallways, it is hard to get to our next class giving no break whatsoever. Our only chance to have freedom is our 30 minute lunch time. It takes us about 5 minutes to stand in line, and 20 plus minutes to eat. We have no time to converse and let our minds free. The school feels like a prison. In addition, there is too much homework being given with quizzes and tests. I think the teachers should have meetings to assure that the students are having an adequate moderate amount of homework each day. This week, I have slept everyday at 2 o clock AM studying for tests and quizzes with loads of homework. I have to work nonstop and this gives me no time to free my mind at home as well. If we can’t let go of our stress at home or at school, where can we? This makes me extremely tired in the school day. Because this school requires so much work, whenever I get home, and I try to do my homework, I end of falling to sleep for about two hours because of the lack of sleep the night before. Then, when I realize I had fallen asleep, I have loads of homework, quizzes, and tests to study for. The cycle continues on and on of minimal sleep. Now, I doubt that the school’s administrator will take into consideration what this article is saying, but I am merely discussing the flaws of this school. The adults need to understand what we feel and how this prison environment is not working. I do not plead but request that the students of KIS also share this same idea of righteousness. Is it not agreed upon the students that we are not having the education that we want? It is up to the students to stand up and say that this is not working, and have a voice in what is ours in the first place. I want to say that the faculty/teachers are indeed doing an excellent job teaching here in KIS. I feel I am getting the right education I need, but I believe it can be done with more enjoyment to the students. The sleepless nights have to stop. It cannot continue in an environment such as this. It seems impossible to fight against what authority is above us, but this Bureaucracy is unjust and unfit. I am here to state that the workload on the students should be relieved and make the school a more relaxed and enjoyed facility. For the better of the students, and the assurance that they will succeed.
